When we purchase a car, we want to keep it looking as good as new without even scratches on the doors. However, the increasing number of vehicles on the road is only increasing the number of accidents, if not at least scratches on our auto doors. The lack of adequate parking spaces and big sized vehicles are complicating matters and we find at the receiving end of scratched auto doors.

In order to cut costs, manufacturers have discarded protective plastic door strips on new cars and left us at the mercy of other vehicles. So how do we protect our auto doors from scratches? Here are a few great ways of solving the problem.

When you shop for a car, go for the one with molded plastic strips on the doors. If you like a particular model without strips, at least ensure you can fit the strips as an accessory.

Always try to park your vehicle at the far end of the parking space for freedom from fast and unruly vehicles. Most people tend to jostle for space in front of the shopping mall or theatre etc. Avoid the most sought after parking places and protect your auto doors from vehicles that want to move in a hurry.

Try to choose corner parking slots to cover one end. It will eliminate the chances of scratches or dents from that end. At the other end, you can reduce the occurrence of scratched auto doors as less number of vehicles are likely to be parked.

Try to park as parallel as possible to other vehicles to minimize contact.

If possible, park your vehicle in a space next to a smaller vehicle which gives some protection to your auto doors.

You can protect your auto doors adequately with these measures and proper implementation will deliver good results.

Shaving car doors involves removing your car’s outer door and filling the area, creating a smooth appearance of the surface. Being able to successfully shave your car door would give you a result which would last for a long time. On the other hand, not being able to successfully shave your car door would lead to problems sooner than you think. The good news is that there are many shaved door kits to help you along your way.

How to Get Started With Shaved Door Kits

When shaving your car door’ handles, it is important that you remove the inner panel of your door. Keep in mind that your car doors have differences in panels, except for the connecting clips and screws. There are even cases when you would have to use a tool for screws and clips that are hidden. These are usually attached in crank or door handles.

Achieving the Best Results

The steps in shaving handles should be followed very carefully, to be able to achieve a smooth finish product and a long-lasting effect. It is best if you would ask advice from experts, such as paint shops and other resources such as magazines and books.

Make sure that you only use the best quality materials with your shaved door kits. For instance, choose a good primer to the area that you conducted repair on. This would ensure that the rest of the remaining applications would be smooth. Use sandpaper together with the primer to make sure that you would be able to create a smooth surface in preparation for the paint.

Painting is a critical part of shaving. If you have little or no experience in painting, it is best if you get a professional to do the job for your car.

Suicide rear doors were invented to reduce too much weight hanging on the car’s B post. A lot of hot rodders, custom cars and low riders have been using suicide door hinges for their units. Before, producing such doors meant a lot of hard work on the manufacturer’s part. However, new technologies have already been developed, enabling easier installment of suicide hinge doors.

The Benefits of the Suicide Door Hinge Kit

Autoloc began producing kits for suicide door hinges to permit a novice car owner or craftsman to be able to install such a difficult-looking part relatively easy. The kit is able to simplify much of the steps in installing the door hinge, but it still requires some level of knowledge and skill about metal works. You have to take note that installing a suicide door hinge kit involves boring holes and welding pieces. Unless you are adept to such things, then you are not qualified to install the kit.

Installing Your Doors

The steps to installing a suicide door hinge kit should be followed carefully. You must take all warnings and precautions, as well as safety instructions to ensure that you are protected against any harm which the installation may cause you. Another thing you have to take care of is the parts of your car, especially the interiors such as the seats and the carpet. Before conducting any procedure related to the installation, make sure that you cover these parts.

Before you leave your project, make sure that you have instead the door hinges properly and that no part is left unsecured.

Shaved door handles are a popular feature among muscle cars, hot rods, and Asian imports. A shaved door handle is a car door where no handle is on the exterior of the door. Because the door is clean of any features, it gives the car nice clean lines and a more modern style.

How to Shaved Doors Work?

With a shaved door, an electromechanical device known as a solenoid is used to trigger the door latch. The user uses a remote control device to activate the doors opening and an emergency button is hidden on the vehicle in case the remote malfunctions.

Getting door handles professionally shaved can cost over a thousand dollars but those with even a little experience in welding and the necessary cutting and welding tools can do the process themselves. To get started purchase a shaved door handles kit, these kits will simplify the installation by including everything needed to complete door shaving.

How to Install Shaved Doors Yourslef

To remove the outer door handles you will first have to remove the interior door panel to remove screws and connections holding the handles in place. You should mask off the surrounding areas of the vehicle before getting started so the paint will not get damaged. Carefully remove the glass, mirror and trim pieces as well. Then you can insert the solenoid into the area left by where the door handle connected to the interior door latch. Install the door opening mechanism and follow the instructions provided in your shaved door handles kit in order to run the wires.

Mark off a rectangular area around the door handle then use a cut wheel to cut it out. Use this cut out piece to cut out a piece of metal the same size then tack weld it into the gap left on the car door. Grind down the area then use sandpaper to make it completely smooth. Apply several coats of primer and paint the panel so the door color matches the vehicle.

Doors are used by passengers in a vehicle when entering or exiting a car. Though all cars have some sort of door, there are actually more options than you realize. For those looking to trick out their vehicle or just help set their car apart from the rest, there are 7 main types of car doors to choose from, allowing car users to make their cars just as unique as their own personalities.

Conventional Doors: Are the type used on the majority of new vehicles by car manufactures. These doors have hinges on the front edge of the door, and when the doors are open, they swing out from the vehicle.

Suicide Doors: The opposite of conventional car doors, they are hinged on the rear edge of the door, swinging in towards the vehicle.

Scissor Doors: Though these doors have a hinge on the front edge of the door, they then rotate up instead of swinging out. Usually they rotate slightly out before rotating up at 90 degrees.

Butterfly Doors: Very similar to scissor doors but while the doors rotate up the sides of the door also pivot towards the front.

Gull-wing Doors: These doors are hinged from the roof, and the weight for the car doors is squarely on the roof. The name gull-wings refers to the fact that when fully opened the doors give the impression of a seagull in flight.

Sliding Doors: These doors are mounted onto a track and open horizontally. Mainly found on minivans, minibuses and some commercial vans.

Canopy Doors: This car door is pretty rare and seen mainly on concept cars. With a canopy door, the opening is on the top of the car and lifts off in some way. The hinges on these car doors may be in the front, back or either side of the car.

Buying custom designed fiberglass car door panels and installing them is a straightforward process. By buying custom car doors instead of trying to mold them from fiberglass, you can avoid the mess and exposure to dangerous fumes and dust particles that occur during the molding process. For do-it-yourselfers, it is also a great way of saving money. Easily install your custom vehicle doors with these steps.

Inspect the Car Door

To get started manually roll your car window down or use the power control settings. Before removing anything take a few minutes and use a flashlight or other light source to visually inspect the car door for any signs of damage, run your hands over the door to feel out the location of any screws.

Power Windows versus Manual Windows

Power and manual car windows, are installed differently, therefore different techniques are used when installing custom car doors. For power windows you need to locate the control assembly, which holds all the wires needed to operate the windows and disconnect them. The control assembly may be built into the armrest of the car, this unit is very expensive, and if you attempt to pull off the door handle without disconnecting it, the unit could be damaged. For manual windows, you can press on the spring clip holding the crank in place to detach it from the door.

Undo the Screws

Remove all the screws and door mountings including the weather-strip, window crank and door handle. Additional screws may be located within the door handle trimming or in the space left by where the door handle was.

After pulling out the old door panel, you can fit the new custom car doors into place. Take your time and use care when placing the fasteners back into the new car door. If replacing the doors on an older model vehicle the fasteners can be reused. With newer model cars, fasteners are only designed for one use. Take a few of the fasteners into a hardware or auto supplies store to get the right size.

When a man gets a car, he somehow becomes addicted to modifying it. Whether it is a new set of speakers, custom rims, or a new paint job, there is an endless amount of modification to be done, and one of the more popular choices for modification are the Lamborghini door kits.

The Different Types of Lambo Door

A Lamborghini door is also known as a Lambo door or Scissor door. This essentially means that the door will open upward instead of outward like the standard car. There are two basic ways that they can be opened in this fashion, which are manually, or through the use of an electronic switch.

The doors can actually be installed in two different ways, which is why there are two different types of Lamborghini door kits. The first type of course is the bolted. These are incredibly easy to install, and can be adjusted easily. Just remember that while you are driving the doors might actually shift, meaning you will have need to adjust them constantly.

The other type, of course, are the welded Lamborghini door kits. These are more permanent, and will not shift from driving, but during conditions of high heat, such as welding, the paint can be quite damaged. You may need to repaint your vehicle, or at least that one spot.

Why Bother With A Lambo Door?

Aside from the obvious disadvantages, there are many advantages to Lamborghini door kits. For one you never have to worry about hitting the car next to you in the parking garage when you open your door. You also won’t have to worry about your door being taken out when you open it on the side of the freeway, though if you have chosen manually opening doors, it may require a bit of strength to open them. In any case, these doors are a great choice, so start looking for Lamborghini door kits today.
